Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 Review: The bittersweet finale

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 Review: The bittersweet finale

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 is last movie of the trilogy ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’. One of the best stories Marvel has ever produced yet in the MCU.

The Director and Writer, James Gunn of the whole trilogy did not disappoint and delivered a well-crafted masterpiece. The Galaxy’s comedic crew returned to the big screen for one last time with their well-known humor mixed with action!

This time the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 presents an emotional background that we haven’t been used before. The movie deals with the topics of Family, After-Trauma Stress, Self-sacrifice and loss. Something that leads to a great well-crafted plot. It explains you idealy the past. Has much action on the present and makes you understand and accept the future of our favorite characters.

I will leave a line here without spoiling anything

“The story was about you all along… You just couldn’t see it yet” A line that when spoken, it gave me goosebumps! A masterful work by James Gunn the director of all the three Guardians of the Galaxy movies.

The Plot

The movie starts in ‘Knowhere’. Our hero, Star-Lord, Peter Quill, the leader of the Guardians tries his hard to accept and deal with the loss of his beloved Gamora, while the rest of the crew try to support him however, they can. An unexpected event takes place and another member of the team is in grave danger. There is no time for grief and sorrow and they all assemble to start a new adventure to save their friend! With their genius, bravery and love they have for each other this adventure begins!

Characters Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 Peter Quill in love with Gamora, Review in ChriStories Blog

The Cast

The cast once again is ideally excellent! Chris Pratt shines as Peter Quill again with his known humoristic character combined with emotion. Dave Bautista in his last appearance as Drax, for what he had recently said on an interview with Jimmy Fallon, gives some epically funny one-liners and humoristic conversations with Mantis, from Pom Klementieff. Our fan-favorite Groot, all grown up, with the voice of Vin-Diesel, who makes a significant present in the action and plot. Of course, a new Gamora makes a return to the movie. Zoe Saldana, delivers a new Gamora, a character that had never met Peter Quill and had never started a relationship with him. How will she react to Peter Quills constant attempts to remind her is a very interesting topic.

Finally, the two characters that shine in the whole movie are Nebula and Rocket, from the actors Karen Gillan and Bradley Cooper. Gillan offers a depth to her character, who since Avengers Infinity War, has turned sides from a villain to a hero. And Cooper delivers great voice-acting performance for the emotional story of Rocket, who is the core of the whole story.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 Villain and Anti-hero, Movie review on ChriStories Blog

Villain

The movie introduced some new characters. The Guardians have to face some obstacles to reach their goal. With the introduction of some anti-heroes and of course the main villain. High Evolutionary makes his appearance and even though he stays one-dimensional character in the whole duration of the story. His goals and actions definitely make you hate him and oppose him.

Music

One of the strongest points even from the previous movies, was the decision of the soundtrack. Excellent choices from classic Rock to famous Pop hits, that give the perfect vibe in all of the movie’s duration. James Gunn methods are after all to shoot his scenes while having his actors know which music piece and soundtrack will be playing in each moment. This delivers great scenes with action and with slow-motion. Everyone is synched and on the right page!

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 Epic Slow motion scene, Movie review in Christories Blog

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3

In conclusion, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 is an epic and full of emotion adventure that delivers the perfect ending to a trilogy. Maybe the greatest ending in the MCU in general. Humor, Action is always there, even in the darkest times make the movie special.

Even if its hard to Goodbye to our favorite characters but the way it is being delivered you can’t argue but being emotional and be proud of what the Galaxy’s Guardians have accomplished.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 Director James Gunn

James Gunn

The writer and director James Gunn makes his last appearance in this cinematic universe while another challenge awaits him in the DC universe which I am very interested to see how his vision for the DCU will be. After this movie I am fully supporting Gunn to do what he thinks best for the comic characters in which I am a fan of.

Should You watch it?

Why are you even reading this part. Of course, you should! Do not miss this masterpiece on the theaters! I went for 3D which left me speechless!
