Hello friends! So, me and Zach just returned from the Cinema and watched ‘Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse”! Without spoiling anything and ruining this wonderful movie’s experience we write you this post
We have to say that it was probably one of the greatest Marvel adaptations ever! Although it has its issues…
We will talk about it later this week in a Spoiler-Review with much more depth on why and mostly how. But for the time being, for those who haven’t watched it yet, we should say,
It’s Must Watch (considering you have also watched the first Movie as well 😝)
Our Expectations before the watching the Movie
Let’s Begin! with Chris’s Opinion
Animation
First of all, the movie is stunningly beautiful, with animation that is pleasing to see and really tenses the action sense. Brings awe with some scenes that are Wallpaper material! The Animation is a crucial part of this movie since it is one factor that was positively rated for, from the first movie. They really outdid themselves, designing wonderful Worlds (or rather Universes).
Plot
I will not go much into the plot part since this is a No-Spoilers post. The only thing I will talk about will be from the things we already know from the trailers and clips that were released before the movie’s premiere.
We get an introduction to Gwen’s world and her backstory. Following her we get to understand her more and by some following events, the movie begins…
Miles Morales, our protagonist, still struggles to connect with his father and live 2 lives at once. Like every Spiderman after all.
Characters
That leads to our characters, who are very engaging to the audience. We do not get to see “the Spiderman” but the human behind the mask, Miles, Gwen, Peter, Peters?.. etc. This is a tricky question “are you here to watch Spiderman, or Miles Morales. The story really unfolds itself to you letting you witness all the characters’ philosophy and why they do what they do. I will leave it to that because a little more and I will drop some spoilers 😅
What I didn’t like about “Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse”
It ends…
Not in a good way😂 . I mean it’s no secret that “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is coming in March 2024. That means that the movie ends not in an optimal way. The movie is so good that I am angry I have to wait for the next one. If that makes sense. Which could be a positive thing about the movie, depends on your perspective about it…
My Advice
If you have watched the first movie and you liked it. Then you will love this movie even more!
It’s Rating is accurate with its quality!
Sequels are tricky things. If you didn’t like the first movie then there is no reason to watch the second. So it’s an easy dodge.
But if you liked the First Movie then you have to consider if the Sequels would end up being a bummer. For this Movie I guarantee you. The Sequel was even better than the Prequel! It is a wonderful experience watching it on the big screen so I totally recommend you to go watch it!
Zach’s Opinion
Making a sequel isn’t an easy job and especially to a successful movie, even though it is the obvious next step a lot of times sequels don’t live up to the expectations that the first movie has set. This is not the case as “Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse” not only it does maintain everything from “Into the Spider-Verse”, but the story manages to be better and even more exciting, with the first part being light and more of what Miles Morales (the protagonist) and Gwen Stacy have been up to after the end of the first movie.
The second and third part though is when the plot of the movie truly starts, with Miles discovering a lot more about the Spider-Verse and the aftermath of the end of the first movie. The stakes are much higher with Miles Morales having to face bigger threats and forced to make difficult decisions. Although some action scenes are a bit too long, maybe to fill the 2 hours and 21 minutes of runtime, it still felt to be the right length, without any boring or unnecessary scenes.
The movie ends differently than the first, without spoiling anything, was the highlight of the movie and left me excited for the next movie “Beyond the Spider-Verse” and see what happens next for Miles and the rest of the spider gang. Thankfully, it won’t be long as the release is March 29, 2024, way sooner than “Across the Spider-Verse”.
Stay tuned for our Spoiler-review coming soon!
