Hello fellow readers and writers alike!
I am Spyros, a writer and co-founder of the ChriStories blog! And we are here to share, write
and create more stories with you, in order to expand the wonderful community of inspired
writers and creative minds! But first and foremost, I should tell you a few things about
myself.
When I was still young in age, I found myself in books, especially of the mythological genre and later on, of the historical spectrum. As a Greek by birth, I learned to love the cunning of Odysseus, the bravery of Achilles or the virtue of Hercules and other mythological figures. Although young, I could feel and see myself in these stories, which later on helped me understand them better. Around the age of twelve, I read the book of Valerio Masimo Manfredi called “Alexander the Great”. And that was it. I was hooked for life. Historical novels became my favorite genre.
Later on, my passion for history and mythology grew. I read the series of Percy Jackson as a teenager (I finished the first book in one day, that’s how amazing the books were) and found the magic that surrounded gaming. My greatest loves as a gamer are two: Rome Total War (both the original and the revival of the game, later on art 2012) and the Assassin’s Creed franchise. The mix of fantasy with history was a favorite for me, especially when you experience an excellent story with a guy named Ezio Auditore da Firenze.
And one day, in the year 2017, close at the end of my teenage life, I got infected with the bug of writing, and I made my first attempts to sit down and complete a book of my own. This was the awakening that me and Chris needed to explore our options. Soon, school life
would be over, and university would start.
And so, we did exactly that. We explored. Soon, every hand was on deck. Although some moved to other cities or countries due to their studies, we all kept in touch, our friendship uniting us. In the beginning, we wrote a bunch of draft stories, discussing and erasing stuff, starting all over again. But then It happened. We finally sat down, talked to each other, and started our blog, ChriStories!
One of the many reasons that my first book was about the life and teachings of Jesus of
Nazareth, is due to my upbringing as an Orthodox, but also due to my studies at the Social
Theology Faculty of the Aristotelian University of our hometown Thessaloniki. Although our
personal beliefs, it didn’t affect our purpose. This is not a certain religious blog. It may
contain certain aspects (like the book that I am currently translating, in order to publish it
sometime in the future), but this is not our reason for existence. Here, every story is
welcome! That being said, we hold some traditional values altogether, and doesn’t mean
that everything is accepted or permitted as normal or natural.
We know that there are many out there that are exactly just like us. That you love good
stories, people that are getting inspired by good movies or well-written games. With this
initiative, we want to come closer to each one of you and know you better, while sharing all
those stories that your creative minds are forming and drafting. It is going to be a heck of a
journey and we are honored to share it with you.
